The Friends of All Saints Association

friends pikThe aim of the Friends of All Saints is to raise funds for the maintenance and upkeep of All Saints Church. Friends are those who are interested in the history of the building of All Saints and wish to see its continued presence into the future. The Church is a Grade 1 Listed building of real importance, both as an historic monument and a place of worship. The questionnaire in the Scraptoft Parish Plan undertaken by the civic

Parish Council in 2008 found that 89% of local people value the local church which has inspired the PCC to set up a Friends of All Saints to enable people to help maintain the building even though they might not attend the Church for worship.

As well as a place of worship, All Saints is arguably the most important community meeting place in the parish, providing monthly coffee mornings and regular social events throughout the year. The Church receives no money from the Government or any other agency and the congregation has to raise upwards of £50,000 each year
simply to keep the Church up and running. To become a Friend you don’t even have to live locally: there are many reasons people have a link with All Saints and this scheme can provide a way for them to contribute to its protection and upkeep. All donations will be earmarked for the building only and will not go towards any religious activities. The cost of these will continue to be the responsibility of the congregation.

If you would like to help us maintain this beautiful and important building as a resource for the locality into the future why don’t you join the Friends of All Saints by filling in the Enrolment Form attached and returning it with your Membership Fee? In return you will have the knowledge that you are contributing to a place of great importance to this area and you will receive regular updates from the Friends Committee.
